Our kits are suitable for children aged 7 and up , with adult assistance for certain steps.

It is best to use it as soon as possible in order to achieve the best results.

What if I don't have time to do it right away?

Place the mycelium sachet in the fridge to stop its growth in the meantime.

Should all the mycelium be used at once?

Once the bag is opened, it is best to use it all. However, you can reseal the bag tightly with tape and put it back in the refrigerator.

Is it easy to do?
Yes, it's designed to be fun, like a recipe to follow:

1. You mix them up
2. You mold
3. You observe growing
4. You unmold
5. You decorate!
   

How long does the activity last?
Phase 1: 30 minutes to 1 hour
Then a few days for the Shroumi to grow and then it can vary if you wish to personalize it.

How long does it take to grow?
Approximately 4 to 7 days , depending on the temperature and humidity of the room.

Should the mycelium be watered or fed?
No. It is enough to keep it slightly moist (enclosed in a box or non-airtight plastic bag).

What is the ideal environment?
A room at 20–24 °C , without drafts. Avoid direct sunlight.

Can I paint my Shroumi?

Yes! With acrylic paint or markers. You can also varnish it, glue on accessories, etc.

Can we add our own touch?

Of course! The goal is to create a unique object and let your creativity shine.

When you mold it, you can integrate elements into it and the mycelium will take care of fixing it.

Can I put the object outside?

Not directly. It's biodegradable. If you want to keep it outside, waterproof it with an eco-friendly varnish.

If it is kept dry and protected from moisture, it can last for several years .

And if it gets moldy?

This can happen if it hasn't dried sufficiently. Throw it in the ground or compost, and it will disappear naturally.

What if I no longer want the item?

It's 100% compostable ! You can bury it or throw it in a compost bin.

Why use mycelium?

It's a natural alternative to polluting materials like leather or plastic. It grows quickly, without toxins, and generates no waste.

Is the product certified?

The mycelium comes from suppliers specializing in biofabrication. We place great importance on safety, transparency, and ethics.

When you receive your shroumi , it should be brown (the color of its substrate, the equivalent of soil for a mushroom).

If it starts to turn white , don't panic, it's not moldy, it has only just started to grow.

To slow down its growth , keep it in the refrigerator or in a room below 15°C.

Healthy mycelium is naturally white or off-white . It may sometimes have a fuzzy, cottony, or denser appearance in certain areas: this simply means it's colonizing its substrate well. Mold is usually recognizable by colored spots (green, black, pink, blue, etc.) or a strong, unpleasant odor . As long as your mycelium is white and smells slightly like forest or mushrooms, everything is fine 🍄

If the white part is predominant, don't worry: simply break down the fibers by crumbling the mycelium into small pieces during preparation. Once thoroughly mixed, it will sprout and grow again without any problem.
